Frequently asked questions

How do I convert pace to speed?

Speed (km/h) = 60 ÷ pace in minutes. A 5-minute-per-km pace is 12 km/h; a 6-minute pace is 10 km/h. The calculator does this conversion both ways instantly.

What is a good running pace for a beginner?

There is no universal number — comfortable conversational pace varies hugely. A common benchmark is a 10 km in about 60 minutes (6:00 min/km) for reasonably fit beginners, but the right pace for you is the one you can sustain with good form.

Does elevation change my pace?

Significantly — hills cost roughly 10–15 seconds per km per 100 m of climbing. For race predictions on hilly courses, adjust expectations; flat-course predictions assume steady terrain.
